Professor Zhongqiang Chen, president of Peking University Third Hospital and vice chairman of orthopedic department.
Professor Chen is very good at spine surgery, especially in the treatment of cervical spondylosis, thoracolumbar spine disease, spine deformity, spine trauma, and
spondylolisthesis. He was one of the main researcher of ‘diagnosis and treatment of cervical spondylosis’, and won Beijing second-class reward of science and technology progress in 2001 and national second-class reward of science and technology progress in 2002
. Another subject ‘clinical research of non-fracture or dislocation cervical spinal cord injury’ got ministry of education first-class reward nomination of science and technology progress in 2003. He innovated the osteotomy and correction techniques for the treatment of various types of spine deformities; he is a master in the field of severe kyphosis correction. He contributed a lot in the research and clinical treatment of thoracical canal stenosis. He is also extremely experienced in degenerative disc disease and revision procedure.
In the past decade, Professor Chen published nearly 100 papers, including 8 SCI papers. He participated in writing 6 books and translating 4 foreign books. He got several research funds from ministry of national health, ministry of education, and national science and technology foundation. As a postgraduate mentor, he has taught many postgraduate students.
The main research interest of Professor Chen is the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of degenerative disc disease, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of ligament ossification of spine, and diagnosis and treatment of thoracolumbar kyphosis.
Professor Chen is vice chairman of Chinese Orthopedics Association, associate chief editor of Chinese Journal of Surgery, chairman of AOSpine China chapter. He also serviced as the editor of several medical Journals.
