Special interesting: cervical spine disorders including neck pain, radiculopathy and myelopathy caused by degenerated disc disorders. Any other cervical spine problems such as deformity and trauma. Stenosis of cervical /lumber spinal canal.
Social activities: Member of Chinese Medicine Association. Member of Chinese Rehabilitation Medicine Association, Cervical Spondylosis Society. Member of Beijing Medicine Association, Orthopaedic Surgery Society. Research:(1)Degenerated disorders of cervical spine.(2)Spinal cord injury. Working experiences: From 1984 to now:I qualified at medical department of Peking medical college (nowaday as Peking university health science center) in 1984. I have been working in Orthopaedic Department, Peking University Third Hospital as a resident, chief resident, attending, vice chief surgeon and, currently, a chief surgeon and associate professor. From Jan.1994 to Jul.1998: I obtained a Limited Registration of United Kingdom and completed orthopaedics and trauma training in University Hospitals of University of Aberdeen, UK. From Sep.1999to Nov.1999: I obtained scholar fellowship of AO/ASIF(Association of Study of Internal Fixation) and studied advanced principles and techniques of traumatic and spinal surgery in University Hospitals of University of Geneva, Switzerland.
2002: Reported that there were large amount sympathetic nerve fibers in the synovial membrane of cervical facet joint and traumatic inflammation due to segmental instability played an important role in the etiology of cervical spondylosis. Nov.2002: As a faculty member invited by Spinal Science Advancement Foundation (SSAF) attended an international course of “current spine” held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 2003: Started application of cervical artificial disc replacement in the treatment of cervical DDD and reported the early result in China. Reported one stage combined surgical approach for the treatment of CSM with multilevel anterior and posterior spinal cord compression and anterior huge disc protrusion had a much better clinical outcome than any single approach. 2006: Presented the paper “the application of Bryan artificial disc replacement and clinical experience” in the 6th SAS conference. Using combination of balance traction and surgical correction for the treatment of major congenital and acquired cervical kyphosis obtained success. One of these cases had 125 degrees congenital cervical kyphosis and he only had 25 degrees kyphosis left after the operation. 2007: Presented the paper “the clinical outcome of Bryan disc replacement and some related issues” in the 23rd CSRS European section annual meeting. Presented the result of “the X-ray and MRI evaluation of adjacent segment minimal 2 years after single level Bryan disc replacement” in COA conferenec. 2008: Attended APSAS 2008 conference with other 3 members of cervical artificial disc study group as the only one scientific delegate from China. ALL 4 scientific papers about the application of cervical artificial disc replacement obtained oral presentation.
